BOTTICINO RISERVA LA FOJA D'OR

AZ. VIN. EMILIO FRANZONI

For over a hundred years, the Franzoni family has been producing wines in Botticino, a foothill town in the province of Brescia, famous for its marble quarries. The limestone nature of the soil affects all the hills that extend near Mount Maddalena and have historically been vineyards. Botticino red has always been the important wine of the Brescia area, the most important. And it is in the terroir that the power of this wine is to be sought, whose vines sink their roots into a red ferric clay covering the sedimentary rock beds. The centuries-old work of man has cultivated these lands, often semi-mountainous, seeking a favorable southern exposure: an almost heroic viticulture that has also resisted the pressures of urbanization.

Claudio Franzoni has been dedicated for years to the commendable task of promoting a wine often forgotten, little known outside the local boundaries, but always appreciated for its aging and maturing capabilities over time. Claudio's wines are wines that rest in the cellar for long periods before being put on sale, deep and never banal wines, reflecting the heritage of wine culture and the area's vocation.

The reserves, Foja and Foja d'Or, are highly acclaimed wines that have achieved undisputed fame due to their uniqueness and high quality; the everyday wines, on the other hand, are characterful wines with a great value for money. They are all traditional wines, made from local grapes (barbera, marzemino, sangiovese, and schiava gentile) expertly blended to obtain balanced, correct, and beautifully structured and lively wines.

BOTTICINO RISERVA LA FOJA D'OR

Barbera 45%, marzemino 30%, sangiovese 15%, schiava gentile 10%

A reserve in name and in fact. The grapes come from the oldest and best-exposed vineyards of the company, located on high hills. Yields per hectare are low and the grape selection is meticulous. A wine produced only in great vintages, traditionally characterized by grape withering and winter pressing. A long aging - at least four years in large oak barrels - and a prolonged refinement in the bottle allow this wine, produced in small batches, to achieve great balance and a unique depth and length.
